How to take the Busan Sky Capsule
There’s a sky capsule that goes around the coast in Busan with an endless view of the sea. We were lucky to meet up with our friend for the ride. She brought books of her grandfather’s poetry and the trip became the perfect opportunity to celebrate the things that we experience and create.
The Busan Sky Capsule is a monorail ride in a very beautiful part of the city. There is also a Beach Train that runs below it, so a popular way to see the area is to take the Sky Capsule one way and then take Beach Train back.
We’ve put together this post with everything that you need to know to book the Busan Sky Capsule, including how to buy tickets online, which station to get on at for the best view, and the best tour options to get there.
We loved capturing this trip and if you like any of these photos, you can find us on Instagram here:

HOW TO BOOK TICKETS FOR THE BUSAN SKY CAPSUKE
Buying tickets in person
It is possible to buy tickets in person from a ticket office or machine at Mipo Station in the Haeundaue Blueline Park. However, the lines for the Busan Sky Capsule can be long, especially in peak seasons. When our family travelled to Busan before us, they queued for around 45 minutes and the tickets were sold out once they reached the window.
Buying tickets in advance
We’d recommend booking tickets for the Sky Capsule or Beach Train in advance here to avoid missing out during popular times. You can book tickets for a half hour window and join the queue for the next Sky Capsule any time within that window. Each capsule is private and can be booked for groups of up to four people.
WHERE TO GET ON THE BUSAN SKY CAPSULE
The sky capsules and beach trains run for around 2km between Mipo and Cheongsapo stations. We thought the most scenic route was to get on at Mipo in the Haeundae Blueline Park and go the Cheongsapo station, as the capsules going in that direction run alongside the sea.
To get on at Mipo Station, go to MAP HERE.
TOURS THE INCLUDE THE BUSAN SKY CAPSULE
One day tour of busan with the Sky Capsule
If you’d like to add the Busan Sky Capsule to a longer day tour, this full day coastal tour also includes the Oryukdo Islands Skywalk and Gamcheon Culture Village. It’s a good option if you’d like to get around Busan easily as it includes round trip transportation, tickets to the Sky Capsule, and entry fees to the other sites.
Multi-day tours of South Korea with the Busan Sky Capsule
If you want everything to be organised in advance, this one week tour includes 6 nights of accommodation and goes to Seoul, Busan and Jeju. It is a great option because it covers all of our favourites, including Jeongbang Waterfall, Hallasan, Gamcheon Culture Village, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, the Busan Sky Capsule, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village and Insadong.
TIPS FOR VISITING BUSAN
Where to stay in Busan
We decided to stay in Haeundae to be near the beach and found the most options for accommodation in Busan on Agoda. We booked a room in the Felix by STX Hotel and Suites and could easily walk down to the main shopping area, restaurants and Haeundae Beach.
How to get to around Busan
Busan is a huge city, so it does take a but of time to get around by public transport. If you’d prefer to drive, we hired a car twice in South Korea through Rentalcars.com on our trip. The platform lets you compare cars and prices across the major rental companies.
